Republicans won! Now what?

The grand parade marching down Main street is over! The Republican float was deemed a winner by the judges. The wildly, enthusiastic cheering crowd has died down and the bands have gone to wherever bands go after a gala ‘well done’ parade; the final note of opus ‘whatever’ has been played. Now what, dear Republicans, now what??

Where is that light at the end of the tunnel? Quoting from an old McDonalds' commercial, “Where’s the beef?” At this point, all we are seeing is Michelle Bachman trying to add new movements to her fan dance and John Boehner at the chemist trying to purchase non-running orange make-up. And BTW, it is noticed he does not cry when he has make-up on. Wonder why?

It appears Republicans have won for the singular purpose of winning. How juvenile! Now get your asses together and do something productive.

As always,

What I heard about the ‘Job Killing’ bill (Update)

On Thursday on C-Span, there was a hearing titled, “Health Care Law Repeal”. Those who wanted to repeal the law were seated at a table on the floor and the defenders were seated ‘on the bench’ in the familiar semi-circle above.

There was an exchange between bench dwelling defender of the bill Rep. Jared Polis, D-Colorado, and floor seated opponent Rep. John Kline, R-Minnesota.

The good floor seated Mr. Kline described the ‘Job Killing’ bill as follows (elaborately paraphrased):
An employer has a meeting with his 49 employees telling them he can not hire a 50th worker due to the fact he would have to start paying medical insurance and medical insurance money would have to be taken out of their salaries. “As you all know, my small company does not provide medical insurance. Do you want me to hire the 50th worker?”

Small Businesses Adding Coverage Thanks to Health Care Reform
by Avenging Angel
Excerpt:
Repealing the Job-Killing Health Care Law Act, would not only lead to higher out of pocket costs, reduced benefits and saddle employers with higher premiums, but over the next 10 years would add $230 billion to the deficit. On Friday, Harvard economist David Cutler released a paper estimating that that repealing the health law could destroy 250,000 to 400,000 jobs annually over the next decade. And, as the Los Angeles Times reported, major insurers are reporting that thanks to the incentives in the Affordable Care Act, "a growing number of small businesses are signing up to give their workers health benefits."

And
Writing in that "Capitalist Tool" Forbes. David Ungar concluded, "Obamacare might just be working to bring health care to working Americans precisely as promised...Because the tax cut created in the new health care reform law providing small businesses with an incentive to give health benefits to employees is working." While 99% of firms with over 200 employees offer some kind of coverage, only three-quarters of those with 10 to 24 workers and half of companies with less than 10 employees do. And as the Los Angeles Times explained, the ACA's new tax credit for companies with fewer than 25 employees and moderate-to-low pay scales to help offset the cost of providing benefits is already having a significant impact:

*Ted Williams: Americas’ newest can of worms

In my opinion, nothing cleans up the speech of Blacks as the conquering of the ‘th’ sound. I have seen people open up a new vista of comprehension in a matter of minutes once the problem has been identified and a few exercises later with the help of a tape recorder does the trick.

I was not surprised when white boy Eminen was named “Rap Artist of the 20th century” by his mostly Black peers. It was a hard pill to swallow but here again it was, in my opinion, due to the ‘th’ sound, the concrete pillar of many English words ie., the, this, that, those, together.

I know it is fact Germans have problems with the ‘W’ sound substituting the ‘V’ sound (unvelcome) in its stead and the Chinese have problems with the ‘R’ hence ‘Shlimp flied lice’.

Moving forward, Dr. Carter G. Woodson of “Mis-Education of the Negro” fame encouraged all Negroes circa 1930 seeking a musical career to get professional help from a qualified music teacher. He had knowledge that a music teacher not only would teach appropriate tone productions but the words that accompanied them to get maximized effect. It‘s that “When in Rome” thing. I am of the school that says speech is also music.

I would always tells my music student “When your parents come to our concerts and can not understand what you are singing, you are wasting their time!”

In reference to the title of my post:
A can of worms is a complex, troublesome situation arising when a decision or action produces considerable subsequent problems.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Can_of_worms

And/Or
Metaphorically speaking, to open a can of worms means to inadvertently create numerous new problems while trying to solve one. Experts disagree on the origin of the phrase, but it is generally believed to be a Canadian or American metaphor coined sometime in the 1950s. Bait stores routinely sold cans of worms and other popular live baits to fishermen, who often discovered how easy it was to open a can of worms and how difficult it was to close one. Once the worms discovered an opportunity to escape, it became nearly impossible to keep them contained.

There are hundreds, perhaps thousands, of Blacks having conquered the ‘th’ sound who have been relegated to the low levels or trash bins of their professions by influential members of the dominant group. I will concede the point that like *Mr. Ted Williams, there has to be a significant intellectual component. And I want to note most emphatically the fact Mr. Williams went to a school with competent teachers to hone (sharpen) his communication skills and, I must add again that the intellectual discipline of Mr. Williams was the sturdy, ever focused under-current! We can’t all be winners and taking off your clothing or pulling on your private parts is of little avail. You simply Kan’t sing. Deal wif it!(Smile)

God bless Bill Gates, WPFW, C-SPAN and the spirits of the unborn for the help,

P.S. I note the successes of ‘singers’ who can not sing a lick but you can understand every word they say. For physical reasons, the converse is also possible re: Harry Balafonte.

The Presidents’ State of the Union Address and the Creepy People

The creepy people are going to be all ears come the moment the President opens his mouth to utter the first syllable of the first word of his first State of the Union Address.

I am mindful this time last year how they absolutely refused to call his first speech to congress a State of the Union Address. As I recall, that was at the same time Joe Wilson shouted , “You lie!” to the President and the press found some body language of Chief Justice Roberts they fantasized was registering objections to what the President was saying. I classify that as behavior of one set of the creepy people.

It is the second set of these creepy people I want to highlight at this time. They are the political pundits and commentators who, after listening to the speech of the President would say, “In other words, the President is saying” or “What the President said was like me taking a trip to the moon thus and so”. To that rhetoric, I say ‘Listener, beware!’ Your red flag should go up. Your sensibilities are being challenged. You know what you heard the President say. You are about to be screwed aka, spun like a top!

In many cases, the creepy people may inject another variable into the conversation in efforts to dis-credit the speech of the President and to muddy the waters. This is done in several ways. It maybe by substituting a new word into the conversation, reciting a parable or pontificating an antidotal story they ask you to confirm is the same thing the President was saying.

They may succeed in re-focusing the conversation. I note many times it does work but back in the day when I was growing up and someone tried to pull that tactic on us, we would simply say, “I ain't talking ‘bout yo Mama, man, I’m talkin’ bout you!’ They would usually get the message loud and clear we are still in control and focused on the conversation.

However, I have on occasions seen the above mentioned techniques work wonderfully well to the delight of both people concerned wherein the opposition was right on target with appropriate and confirming analogies exposing their full understanding of the conversation at hand. No tangents. At that point you can both move forward, start holding hands and begin skipping down the pathway singing Kumbaya. A meeting of two human spirits. Friends.

As always,
BB
P.S. Now that Rahm and Nancy Tee-hee are no longer relevant, I think the President will do great things. That only leaves slow moving, catatonic Harry. Damn!

Frédéric Chopin played very, very badly

You check your program once again and it clearly reads the pianist is playing Chopin. You continue squirming in your seat and scratching your head. The situation is, passage after musical passage, becoming embarrassing.

To put it another way, “Man, step right up. Do I have a bridge for you!”

Long story short, someone is trying to pull one over on you.
Ahmadinejad Slapped By Revolutionary Guard Chief Of Staff: WikiLeaks Cable
Cara Parks
Excerpt:
According to source, Ahmedinejad's statements infuriated Revolutionary Guard Chief of Staff Mohammed Ali Jafari, who exclaimed "You are wrong! (In fact) it is YOU who created this mess! And now you say give more freedom to the press?!" Source said that Jafarli then slapped Ahmedinejad in the face, causing an uproar and an immediate call for a break in the meeting, which was never resumed.

Rep. Alan Grayson: Temporary leave of absence (Sniff)

Mr. Grayson may have to move to another state to establish residency to run again for Congress a la, Hillary Clinton, Jay Rockefeller, Alan Keyes, etc.,

Mr. Grayson may have to move wherein his unique brand of politics would be appreciated. The song *“What I did for love” comes to mind.

Mr. Grayson may also want to take a look at what I consider serious concerns of true TeaBaggers especially if a group would be willing to support him even if he is a Democrat. I think Blacks would also support him in another state.

I would be delighted if Mr. Grayson were to continue making his unique contributions to the Dkos website telling us what he is doing and sharing with us his feeling about contemporary political issues which are always an enlightening reading experience.

I have suspicions MSM may want to make him history. They may want to dump him into the pile labeled Shut-up and go away! My Mother use to say, “Always fool the devil”. (Smile)

2011: My blog, my perceptions

Perceptions.
*In philosophy, psychology, and cognitive science, perception is the process of attaining awareness or understanding of sensory information.

And
What one perceives is a result of interplays between past experiences, including one’s culture, and the interpretation of the perceived.

I chose ‘Perception’ to distinguish myself from posters whom I clearly think are propagandist. Some posters have clearly been identified by those ‘in the know’ as being nothing more than outright propagandist. I am sure a credible argument can be made distinguishing the two.

As so it is and at this time, my 2011 posts will continue to represent my social and political perceptions as follows:

1. As of today, a High School diploma will only mean you can possibly read, write and speak the English language. There are few trade schools left in America. There is the ‘Rubber room’ in New York City. There is Michelle Rhee. There are the teachers’ unions.

2. Regarding the Ivory Coast and its two Presidents, I have a very clear understanding what is going on after reading this BBC article.
Ivory Coast crisis: Your views
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-12060822

3. My feelings regarding Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid: They are both political light-weights. Shallow. They may know and even understand political procedures but lack the in-depth manipulative postures and nuances inherent in any procedure re: Ray Charles singing, “America”, Horowitz playing “Stars and Stripes Forever”. I appreciated Rep. Alan Grayson.

4. It will be a long time before people forget the stellar performances of the President during his lame-duck session. His re-election is now locked in.

5. Genuine Christian TeaBaggers are diamonds in the rough.

6. VP Biden is good for the President. Not one time has he stabbed the President in the back or wavered from his dedication to the Presidents’ agenda. They may have had disagreements but they remain gentlemanly. Ex-Sec. Colin Powell will be the same as Mr. Biden if he is asked and accepts outgoing Robert Gates’ position in Defense.

7. Valerie Jarrett would make a good Den Mother.

8. Pres. Karzai is playing America like a fiddle. He looks at Americans as petulant little children. In the end, he is going to gather all of Americas’ assets unto himself, his family and friends. It’s a big country and we have lots more assets, aka borrowed money, to pour into his country and will be holding the bag in the end. “Brother, can you spare a dime?”

9. Wikileaks is the 900 pound gorilla in the worlds' living room. A bigger house has to be built. Sen. Clinton will finesse herself throughout the construction barking instructions as to its design, function etc.,

10. The air around the White House appears to be easier to breath now that Rahm Emanuel is gone. No more jittery feelings when he appears in the news from way out there in Chicago. I appreciate Rahm as a sensitive and temperamental (bitchy) artist, not as a politician.
Perceptions.

BB
