When your President throws you under the bus

If you are a member of the U.S. Congress and your President use his bully pulpit to say, “If I were him, I would resign”, your President, like a quick and alert back stage production manager, has yelled, “Curtain!!”

On the Cenk Unger Show last evening, Pat Buchanan summed it up, “You don’t do friends (or colleagues) like that.”

In my opinion, the treatment of Rep. Anthony Weiner by his own party is the latest episode exposing the fact Democrats are the not so docile lap dogs of Republicans and united they stand.

I am mindful of the attack word “Rosebud” in a movie I saw many years ago. Republicans use that word or a similar one to mobilize Democrats to attack their own. It has happened over and over again. Color me sad.

P.S. Is this another example the President lacks corporate skills and experiences? Looking forward to a Ron Paul/Herman Cain ticket in 2012. Ah, the stories they could tell.

Obama: Anthony Weiner can 'bounce back'
By JENNIFER EPSTEIN
Excerpt:
In an interview Monday with NBC News, Obama said that he “would resign” if he were in Weiner’s shoes. Carney said Thursday that the president offered his opinion because “he was asked about it” and stressed that it was “not an issue that he has been focused on.”

What happens “When Johnny comes marching home” from Afghanistan? (Correction)

This song of the Civil War era hero-nizes the American soldier Johnny. I had a unit in my music classes playing and singing songs from Americas’ different war periods ending with the 1966 song from the Vietnam war, The Battle of the Green Berets.

Additionally, there was a beautiful song from the Korean War era and I can not think of its name. A student stole my tape. I just remember it was written by a family with a spinet piano in their living room and at one point on the tape, all American solders were singing it. The song was gorgeous and most of my students were moved by it.
(Correction: The song was another one from the Vietnam War and not the Korean War.)

As I reflect on that unit in my classes these many years after my retirement, there were no songs telling us how “Johnny” really faired after coming home; unquestionably there have been novels, movies and plays but, alas, no songs. Also, I have not heard an Afghan War song about “Johnny” to date.

In reference to the Afghan War and with Johnny slated to begin coming home before the end of the year, I wonder as follows:
What kind of civilian job, if any, will Johnny be qualified to take?

Is there one he will immediately take upon discharge?

Is there one just waiting for his return home?

In the current job market, will he be shit out of luck?

Will he enroll in or continue his college career?

What will he and his family do without his military pay and perks?

In what state will most returning soldiers reside?

What is the official economic conditions of the state?

Would there be a portion of solders who do not want to return to civilian life for whatever reason? Etc.,

Some answers to the questions could be obtained through a questionnaire. I am mindful a questionnaire was issued to solders regarding openly gays in the military so gathering and publishing this information should be no big deal.

BB
P.S. It is my understanding there are over five hundred military bases around the world. Can we afford to bring "Johnny" home from all of them and study war no more?

Pres. Obamas’ speeches and his personal financial well being

I listened with great interest last week when the President said he has to be careful what he says due to the fact what he says influences Wall Street.

It is my understanding the President has accumulated a modest fortune though his Wall Street investments, as have Presidents in the past. I have no problems with that.

However, I do have a problem if custodial members of his accounts are using techniques on him created and developed by Dr. Ivan Pavlov. In other words, I find no other justification for what he said. Wall Street is once again in “high cotton fields!” I wonder as I wander…

The Anthony (Oscar Myer) Weiner

In my opinion, it is nothing short of disgusting how Democrats are treating their colleague Rep. Anthony Weiner, but then what more would you expect from such a bunch of mentally-challenged hypocrites?

I am mindful this is the same party voting against the 1965 Civil Rights Act up to voting in volumes to censure their own elder colleague, Rep. Charlie Rangel, and has called for the assassination of one of its own citizens including the assassination of the leader of a sovereign country. And wasn’t it Nancy Tee-Hee who took impeachment of “W” for war crimes off the table soon after her election?

As things now stand, the entire “W” Bush administration can be ignored for crimes to humanity, Wall Street Bankters can continue raiding our treasury and we can assassinate ‘at will’ both foreign and domestic while the proud owner of a weiner is relegated to the statue of “America’s most wanted”. Disgusting! I must be missing something. His 'crime' pales to those of his colleagues.

The next time Mr. Weiner speaks on the House floor, we will be witnessing the whole essence of the man i.e., Barney Frank, John Boehner and David Vitter. I wish Mr. Weiner and his family well.
As always,
BB
P.S. Mr. Weiner did not vote to censure Rep. Charlie Rangel.
