Michael Steele “Peace Prize” to Rush Limbaugh (Update)

If we are going to be ridiculous, childish and stuck on stupid, let’s be ridiculous, childish and stuck on stupid. Were I Michael Steele…..
Michael Steele
"The real question Americans are asking is, 'What has President Obama actually accomplished?' It is unfortunate that the president's star power has outshined tireless advocates who have made real achievements working towards peace and human rights. One thing is certain - President Obama won't be receiving any awards from Americans for job creation, fiscal responsibility, or backing up rhetoric with concrete action."
http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/10/rnc-response-sets-the-tone-what-has-obama-accomplished.php

I am young, attractive and I’m in a good position to start an award for Republicans. Chances are I will live long enough to see the full fruition of my creation. After all Alfred Nobel was sixty three when he died and with modern medicine my chances of living longer are secure. I’m fifty one now. How time flies! And if that fuckin’ HealthCare Reform bill passes, I may even live to be 110! Damm!

No way Barack deserved that Nobel Peace Award. He hasn't done anything like Rush has. Rush has worked hard and he has not gotten anything close to the accolades of a Nobel Peace Award. Not even a Presidential Medal for anything eventhough he has worked his tail off for our party. I don’t know if the media has an award, but if they do, he hasn’t even gotten one of them. And didn’t those Democrats make Bill Clinton an “Honorary" Negro or something?

Barack does not have to buy a baseball team or judge a beauty contest to supplement his salary. It’s just not fair! I sure would have a thing or two to tell him if I went on to become a Priest. I would hit him with every parable I know and maybe even make up some but the almighty Lord had another destiny for me.

I think I will start with something modest like maybe five hundred dollars. It’s not the dollar amount because people usually give the money to charity anyway. It’s the prestige of winning the award and what an award it will be: The Michael Steele Peace Award. I think I can give it some prestige and maybe Boehner and Wilson and maybe even “W” himself will join me in being part of the selection committee.

I can see me now with my tuxedo and top hat announcing to the world the committee has selected “..none other than the illustrious Rush Limbaugh for its first annual Michael Steele Peace Prize award”. I’ll say, “Drum roll, please!” and “Give me the envelope, please!’ Maybe I’ll even have it timed for his anniversary on the radio and before I open the envelope, I tell the band to start playing, “Happy Birthday”. I think I can do it! I know I can do it! Let me call Glenn and run it past him…(Sings) “That's what friends are for....”.

"Obama is not changing the world - he already changed the world. What we are witnessing are Obama tremors. Reactions around the world to his being."

And
Miller was responding to the negative responses to awarding of the prize to Obama. This said it for me plainly. Miller's poetic statement reminds us that Obama represented a huge change in the world. We often forget that.

No Worldwide Headlines

The one thing missing from my day yesterday upon hearing the news Pres. Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize was the lack of seeing newspaper headlines from the capitals of the world and in particular, from Norway.

I have grown accustomed to somebody on Dkos publishing the headlines from newspapers around the world surrounding such a momentous occasion but perhaps I missed that particular diary yesterday. I would usually first see it on Dkos and maybe later I would see it on television.

Yesterday was even stranger due to the fact all I was reading and hearing were snippets from what Fox News sympathizers around the world were saying regarding the awarding of the prize to Pres. Obama. I am getting the same feelings I got when the Golden Dome Mosque in Iraq was bombed twice; the second time with armed guards surrounding it and there was the incident when twenty recent graduated cadets from the Iraq police academy were taken from their bus, bound together and murdered. In other words, I smell sulphur again.

Oslo: We respect you President Obama

We wanted to play our part in honoring you as a brilliant African-America. We do not feel what we have done is so unusual since most of your prominent Blacks had to leave the shores of America for their above average contributions to be recognized. We decided to honor you on your own shores instead of you having to follow in the footsteps of Josephine Baker, Louie Armstrong, Marian Anderson, Roland Hayes, Paul Robeson and James Baldwin.

If, in the future, you decided on a duel-citizenship, with the honor we have bestowed upon you, we do not envision any difficulties. Just as the political commentator Roland Martin said earlier today on your television, your critics hate you for getting out of bed this morning.

My take on the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize

There are those having problems dealing with positive human emotions with the bestowing of the Nobel Peace Prize upon Pres. Obama. Their feelings are not new for some segments of our society. However, concluding what many would consider a mental illness is the blatant and insulting denial of others who are able to remain cerebral enough to celebrate the human spirit and its endeavors.

On WPFW this morning, I heard how celebrated author Naomi Klein feels. She said she feels “insulted” by the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to Pres. Obama. She says “the timing is suspicious” and awarding the prize to Pres. Obama “cheapens the prize”.

In my opinion, this is a clear case of how many people in our country have been so emotionally desensitized believing their own madness as truth perhaps from looking at the many re-runs of the Manson Murder tapes. Oslo has joined the growing throng of countries telling America “….to wake up! The world is passing you by”. Last week, Copenhagen. This week, Oslo. (Busted!)

“Magic Negro” wins 2009 Nobel Peace Prize

…..and I so proud! You go, Mr. President! I suspect Rush is going to have a very, very bad hair day today with his listeners all crying in their beer. Poor baby!
My deepest appreciation to the Nobel Peace Prize Selection Committee. I always say heroes pop up at the strangest times. People you least suspect. Thank you.

In and out of the “OPT-Out” option

Whether “Just you wait until your father comes home!” or “Ooo! I’m gonna tell mom!” there are anticipations.

In those two cases as it is with many other ones of that genre, there is exasperated hope the situation will get resolved when it is explained to an “objective” person.

In relations to the “Opt-Out” option of the HealthCare Bill, I can see nothing but good when the Congress sends out fifty little Uncle Sam wound-up characters with the U. S. Constitution tucked under one arm and their own state’s constitution under the other ready and highly motivated to resolve a conflict for the good of the country as they see it. I see nothing but good when Congress says “Let there be light” and leave up to the individual states to produce the best illumination it is capable of producing and according to its needs. I see nothing but good when Congress recognizes internet broadband is not available to all its subjects, when it knows there is no balance on the airwaves and honestly acknowledges regional disparities in the education of its citizenry and the fact you can not herd cats.

In my opinion, if ever there were a call for *State’s Rights, it is with the HealthCare Reform Bill. There will be continuing fights along the way and most assuredly in the future but hey, the country was set up this way. Don’t fight with the wrong people. This country was set up with States Rights and we have to live with it, like it or not! And so it is the two opening phrases of this post become, “Just you wait until your Uncle Sam comes home!”

To the dismay of many, we are not in the “good ol’ days” of 1930 Germany with Hitler as our President. (clap, clap) Show time, Ya’ll! Please take your seats! Washington Post and New York Times, would you please stop talking and sit the fuck down!??”
Dr. Dean Calls Opt-Out Real Reform
by Cedwyn
Excerpt:
I love hearing the good Doctor weigh in!  In this particular debate, I am happy to see him reiterate his preference for a strong public option, while at the same time agreeing that, if compromise is inevitable, the opt-out is the acceptable compromise to allow.

And comment:
 Opt-out ONLY by supermajority! (25+ / 0-)
The only way a state should be able to opt-out is if a bill authorizing that is passed by a SUPERMAJORITY in the state legislature, and then signed by that state's governor.
What's good for the goose is good for the gander: After all, anything less than a supermajority vote on something so important would just not be "meaningful."
I'm serious.

Afghanistan’s “Dance of the Seven Veils”

Biblical account
According to ten verses of Matthew 14, John was imprisoned for criticizing King Herod Antipas' marriage to Herodias, the former wife of Antipas' "brother" Herod Philip I. Herod offered his niece a reward of her choice for performing a dance on his birthday. Herodias persuaded her daughter to ask for John the Baptist's head on a platter. Against his better judgment, Antipas reluctantly acceded to her request.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dance_of_the_seven_veils

This deadly dance was performed for the English, the Russians and now, since January 20th, for the Pentagon who are woefully praying for an ending with the presentation of President Obama’s head on the platter. This may happen.

Hoping and praying will not alter facts the Afghanistan Company knows how to perform this dance well and with no equal. They were able to fine tune their skills by watching the Pentagon encountering dancers from Vietnam and Korea. They are fast learners analogous to a feller from New York City trying to match wits with a feller from “down home on the farm”.

Sec. Gates said the other day that deep down in his heart, he hopes we “win” this war with Afghanistan due to the fact it we lose, they can use their win as a recruiting tool adding another notch on their guns. This situation is as complicated as it is sad but the facts are clear: At the end of this dance, somebody’s head will be on that platter! Another unpleasant “Yankee, go home!” moment. Sad.

The White House, fireplaces and pictures

Ever since I saw the television documentary series “Touring the White House", I have been aching to do some Monday morning guarter-back decorating from my own experiences.

I have yet to live in the White House - the man said "Keep hope alive!" (I’m 72 now) - so I will openly confess what I would do to make my stay there more comfortable.

First of all, I would lower at least ninety or perhaps ninety nine percent of the pictures so when I have a visitor who bores the hell out of me, I would have only to cast my eye upon a picture in full contemplation, thereby effectively disguising my discomfort. I read long ago that pictures have viewing distances; you can be too close to them or too far away, or they are hanging too high or too low. I also read long ago that hanging pictures at standing viewing height is good for museums but bad for the intimacy of your home due to the fact most of the time you are sittin’ down.

Too many times I see a pictures on walls hanging so high they appears to be nothing more than mis-placed ceiling medallions. I smile. And when I see a picture hanging above a table lamp I say, “Oh my god, are these people for real? Are they Republicans or what?” I get frightened! (Smile)

And so it is, when I saw a fireplace during the White House television tour, I went prostrate in my wheelchair! I also go that way when I see how a fireplace can literally dwarf nearly all of the furniture and people in a room so consequently when I see a fireplace going from floor to ceiling on those decorator shows on television, I literally become comatose. In my opinion, those rooms would take mounted animal heads all over the walls to compliment them with a roaring fire in the fireplace. And when I see how much work goes into those fireplaces and how much people pay for them……..(Sigh)
It has been my visual experiences that a fireplace, like a television, if not handled correctly can become the nine-hundred pound gorilla in the room. After the popularity of television, that is when architects began building “family rooms” due to the fact interior decorators were having so much trouble integrating a television into the living room plans having conquered the radiator and later, baseboard heating etc.,

There is one fireplace in the White House I can’t wait to get my hands on! Another thing I read or heard is you compliment the width of furniture. For example, for a long couch, you put a picture or something the width of the couch or credenza or whatever. On this particular fireplace in the White House, however, on top of the long shelf there is a narrow display of artificial flowers and an even narrower picture hanging on top of that. OUCH! Visual obscenity! All of that will change when I get into the White House.

Finally, I would have my children, like Sasha and Malia, - the man said, “Keep hope alive”- I would have them researching all parts of the White House as to what parts slaves built and the whole nine yards as to the years, names of their masters, pictures, where they lived and any and all antidotal information they can get and place plaques in appropriate places. That’ll keep them busy during my four year term and if I continue to do what the man said, I would have eight years of their historical fruitions.

Coda: I personally think a fireplace and shelf/mantel piece above it should be no higher than five feet or so. To me it gives the appearance you are in full control of that fire-breathing monster in your home. But then if you like the look of a pet dragon in your living room, go for it! Some people even like fried chicken. Who am I to say? I have concluded a decorator effectively working with a fireplace is like a timpanist trying to play “Chop-sticks” on the drums.

Book: “The Obama Nation” and asterisks

The Glenn Beck/Fox News Boycott Goes International
by KingOneEye
Excerpt:
Does Fox want to be regarded as so committed to promoting Beck’s beastly behavior that they will do so no matter how much money or reputation they lose?

In regards to the question diarist KingOneEye raises, I can not help remembering facts surrounding New York Times’ best-seller, *“The Obama Nation” by JEROME R. CORSI.

True the book was on the best-seller list but it seems if a book title has an “asterisk” beside it, the asterisk indicates there was a mass and bulk sale of the book. The facts, as I heard it, are the mass and bulk sales of “The Obama Nation” were purchased by the Pentagon.

It is my understanding Mr. Corsi has a relationship with the Pentagon but other than my surprise the Pentagon could or would promote a book, I am also mindful the Pentagon/Military budget is a secret. It may have change but I did hear this as a fact some years ago. If indeed the budget is a secret, than the areas of their spending habits can also be a secret of sorts.

With the Pentagon sponsoring Rep. Jim DeMint’s trip to Honduras to undermine the President, promoting a book considered anti-Obama and having leaks of important military memos addressed to the White House amazes me no longer as to why Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity et al., stay on the air waves. Is there a connection between the international television empire of Rupert Murdock and the Pentagon? I continue to wonder as I wander….

BB
