Dick Cheney, good for Americans

The good Mr. Ex. VP Dick Cheney may not be good for America, per se, but I posit he is good for Americans.

Mr. Cheney has bought out more closet intellectuals than you can shake a stick at. There use to be people who literally had nothing to say who to the surprise and delight of friends and family members are now talking their asses off. There are the “What tuh hell” bunch who are gradually willing to “listen up!” and some of them are writing and calling into radio and TV shows.

It occurred to me today after listening to the back-to back speeches of President Obama and Mr. Cheney, in order for some people to fully understand one they would have to have listened to the other. In order to understand Rachel Maddow and Ed Schultz you have to have listened to Rush Limbaugh and/or some of his peers and on it goes. People are talking and that is the best thing that could happen to Americans. Said the pompous pot to the equally pompous kettle, “The fault my dear friend does not lie in the stars but in our education however acquired”.

P.S. I hope more communities have Broadband by time the 2012 elections come around.

Pelosi, Dowd: “Teacher’s Pets?”

I would suppose it normal to have a “favorite” person you like. A “Teacher’s pet!” if you will and in some circles, a “Brown nose”.

To be sure in a family constellation there is always a “favorite” somebody as well in a classroom or corporation. A person in a favored position is there due to something he or she has done or has not done. It is common knowledge in that person’s peer group precisely what that person has or has not done and with people being people, there is that tension with the insincere adulation and contrived comfort zones when in their presence; the “If I do what you do, they would like me too!” seething.

In my opinion, this emotion is different than jealousy. In jealousy you would just call her a mean old bitch everytime you think about her and keep going about your business but her being a “favorite” is another can of worms. You wait for what you pray for every day and night; that big Kahuna “fuck-up!” and when that happens, you are transformed. You know the joys of the people who stormed the Bastille and the acres of Woodstock.

You ceremoniously fold your arms gleefully waiting for the next shoe to drop. You know it’s going to drop. It’s gotta drop and you don‘t want to miss a thing! In your revere, you have near tearful anticipations of her ducking and dodging verbal sticks and stones and her screaming for mercy as she is chased down Pennsylvania Avenue with barking dogs, cursing little ol’ ladies with their canes and umbrellas and the homeless community joining in the chase trying to keep up. You work yourself into a dance with flailing arms and syncopated feet until you exhaust yourself leaning prostrate against the nearest lamp post. Discombobulated.

-Are you Ok, Ma’m?
-Yes Officer. I’m fine. Thank you.

You remember what they did to Jason Blair and Armstrong Williams. You remember Janet Cooke and Dr. Joycelyn Elders. You remember they too were favorites. Somebody's favorite. Your favorite. And you also remember Congressman Adam Clayton Powell who pre-dated Rev. Al Sharpton and Rev. Jesse Jackson. You remember all of them who had to run the gauntlet down Pennsylvania Avenue. The tears begin to flow and fall. You shake. You cry. You sob. You melt.

Dkos lays another Golden Egg

In my opinion, this diary is analogous to shouting and testifying in church. I do not know if they shout and testify in synagogues (smile) but this diary is all heart! I love it! From my own experiences, it’s Baptist all the way.

When in teacher training, the teacher told us students when talking to a parent or writing about a student, ALWAYS put in a positive or two. In other words, the student can not be all bad and you should not prove to the parent you are the ogre their son or daughter says you are.

Diarist Maimonides gives us a wonderful palate of nice things one could say about our President before presenting a case expressing anger as to “….why he hasn’t fixed your dishwasher”. And in reference to the list of nice things our President has already done, diarist Maimonides says the list used is, “…all off the top of my head in under 3 minutes.” The diary is timely, relevant and reads like a magical carpet ride. Enjoy! I did.

P.S. I know I am preaching to the choir on this one. The site has already gotten over twelve hundred hits.

Howard Zinn, Frank Wills and Pres. Obama

*Mr. Frank wills was the guard at Watergate when the infamous crime was committed. Mr. Wills noticed the tapes on the rear door of the hotel and called the police thus the first steps in dismantling the Nixon administration.

Mr. Zinn wrote a book, “A people’s history of the United States.” In his book, Mr. Zinn talks about Watergate. Mr. Zinn does not mention Mr. Wills' name nor does he acknowledge his contributions. Simply written out of history, if you will followed by Woodward and Bernstein.

Mr. Zinn is considered a historian and in my opinion Mr. Zinn is violating the tenets of a serious and disciplined historian by so early expressing his personal bias regarding the Presidency of Barack Obama. A good role model for his students?

I stopped reading Mr. Zinn’s book after his account of Watergate wondering what other Blacks he had decided did not meet his standards to be included in his book. I would color the good Mr. Dr. Howard Zinn “A Historical Joke!” Even "W" has more discipline and the good grace to keep his opinions to himself during this period in our history.

To Haiti with Bill Clinton: BRILLIANT! (Update)

I can not say enough nice things about the appointment other than saying in my opinion, this is the best thing that could happen to both the poor citizens of Haiti and our former President, Bill Clinton.

The appointment is a stroke of genius! My personal feelings regarding Mr. Clinton are dwarfed as to my feelings to what he can do for the citizens of Haiti. He brings skills, prestige, publicity and yes, even a bit of class to the table as Envoy to Haiti. At this time I do not know the difference between being an Envoy and an Ambassador but that does not matter now. Nor do I know the duties of an Envoy but whether Envoy or Ambassador, Mr. Clinton has to also interact with Dr. Susan Rice of the UN and his wife, Hillary. I am literally beside myself with joy! The "Come-back kid" has done it again and I don't mind a bit!

I am already looking forward to Randall Robinson’s follow-up book to “An Unbroken Agony”. Go get’em Bill! God speed. Song: “Oh, happy am I.” God is good! Wooopee!

P.S. I hope a Special Envoy has subpoena powers. (Smile)

Former President Bill Clinton named special U.N. envoy to Haiti

Excerpt:
Former President Bill Clinton, who has committed his philanthropic efforts to helping hurricane ravaged Haiti, has been named a special envoy to the Caribbean nation on behalf of the United Nations.

(Update)
In a year or less, I predict Mr. & Mrs. Clinton will be considered the “Un-official” First Family of Haiti. Bet’cha! Royalty being presented a kingdom.
