Pres. Obama and B’er Rabbit

I am consistent in my belief “If you start off wrong, you end up wrong”.

As I noted in an earlier post the down-right refusal of the media to call Pres. Obama’s first speech to Congress his “State of the Union Address” has driven a news cycle. In my opinion, media had blatant and overt objectives to minimize the importance of the speech thereby placing it into the ‘just another Obama speech’ box. By doing thus, the speech can not be an addition to the long list of “State of the Union Addresses” by people whom they, the media et al., feel were “legitimate” Presidents of the U.S. This I do believe.

There has been several commendable analysis of the “What do we call it?” speech in question along with prior speeches suggesting the President uses the oratorical tactics of B’er Rabbit:
*Brer ("Brother") Rabbit is a trickster character in folktales of African, African-American, and Native American Culture. Brer Rabbit is the consummate trickster, who typically matches wits with Brer Fox, whom he always bests. The Native American tribes of the eastern seaboard of the United States also have a tradition of incorporating the Rabbit as a trickster in their myths and legends.

In my opinion, Pres. Obama is giving a series of lectures. A four year series of lectures. If one has attended Master Lecture Classes at a university, a collage or in other venues, one can remember they have a unifying theme. To the extent the lecturer is also usually a master teacher, as is Pres. Obama, one can appreciate how the materials in his lecture intertwines as he uses a variety of public speaking and teaching techniques. However, the technique I have not heard the President use is the “Call and Response”. Perhaps he has, but I did not recall hearing it done with him.

The lecturer, during his series, will at times use his lectures to review some issues and at other times thrust you forward with new information all the while keeping his eye on the whole of his content with his oratory skills. Already from the lectures of the President, I am personally hearing and witnessing the inter-locking and workings as to what he intends to do as President. I will not say my listening skills are above the average but I do know a good lecture when I hear one. Maybe learning to listen is an acquired skill.

There may be some who can not or do not appreciate the skills involved in public speaking to large groups of people nor have they been exposed to the techniques used to pull the whole thing off. However, there is one thing I firmly believe: Few audiences coming to hear a lecture on one issue are willing to sit still having the lecturer weaving cleverly designed webs of deceit in front of them unless they have been pre-conditioned to think that way.

I am mindful of the story doctors tell regarding a women who will die if she doe not get a certain operation. The surgeon, while waiting outside her door wondering what to do because she has told him she does not want the operation, spots a long hair blond, blue-eye hippie like intern coming down the hall. The surgeon quickly pulls him aside and after explaining the patient’s condition, he asks the intern to go into her room telling her she should have the operation. Moments later, the intern emerges from the room flashing the “OK” sign to the surgeon. The patient agrees to the operation.

I heard this antidotal story at Howard University Hospital but sure, it could happen at any hospital and I am, of course, talking about a mind-set which is the thrust and DNA of this post.

In my opinion, the President is presenting his case to America through a series of lectures as a master teacher and as a man following good Christian values with a love for his country. No secret codes and no subliminal messaging. For those feeling this is not the case, and feel they have caught the President “Red-handed,” the words “Lack of exposure,” “Naiveté” or “Cunning” comes to mind and maybe I could also throw in the word “Projection” which goes into wishful thinking and other delusions and fantasies. Gets complicated. Enough said. RIP, B'er Rabbit.

If we can’t clone Pres. Obama…

There are a few things we can do. First, we could pay his brother *George a hansom fee to donate to a private sperm bank wherein a white couple would want a multi-racial baby.

Second comes to mind is an educated white girl going to Kenya, fighting off the Black girls, getting Barack’s half-brother to marry her. It may be easier than we think. Worth a try. What can we lose? We can always blame it on her hairstyle if she doesn’t succeed and give the next white girl a chance. We could bring’em in by the plane loads.

If all else fails, we could send in a *yenta matchmaker. She may make a few concessions for us. I understand they are GOOD!
As always,
BB
P.S. We have to be careful the press doesn’t drive the new born crazy like they deliberately did Malcolm X’s grandson by creating a hostile world for him to grow up in. However, he is still young and we may look forward to hearing nice things from him and Barack Obama is President. BTW, when referring to the President, it is done with a capital “P”. Otherwise writing with a small “p” could be the president of anything. What DO they teach those journalist from Columbia University? Also, in my opinion, it is easier to say “The President” rather than “Barack” or “Obama” saving the first and last name shit for people like Rush, et. al., Wake-up, ebbybody! Our President is not a mirage. Time to come in out of the rain; bad for the brain.

RACCOONS AT THE WHITE HOUSE

Raccoons are also associated with the monkey and apes in reference to Black people. Although I never knew our physical relationship with the raccoons, I do know we are also called “Coons”.

So it was this evening on his show “1600 Pennsylvania Ave.” on MSNBC and for the amusement of his friends and his Mama, David “Howdy-Doody” Shuster had a story regarding raccoons at the White House. The report said the raccoons were caught using salmon fish as the bate. This get awards for a “Fascinating! Really now! Do tell me more” kind of story. And if we did not get it, the segment was immediately followed by a story with file tape showing the Obamas and their quest for getting a dog for their daughters Sasha and Melia. And, mind you, these two segments were preceded by what I consider a very distasteful segment on Pres. Mugabe.

It appears the good Mr. David Shuster did not get it when Ms. Clinton had him suspended from his J.O.B. for two weeks for calling her daughter Chelsy a “Pimp”. I strongly suspect this show tonight was Mr. Shuster renewing his membership in the Rupert Murdock, Rush Limbaugh, Michelle Milkin et al., Country Club. They have to stay current with their membership, you see.

And speaking of membership, I note the other day lawyer *Orly Taitz representing members of the Armed Forces who do not want to serve under Pres. Obama being head of the Armed Services due to the fact the members question his American citizenship.

Just the other night, by mere coincidence or due to dictates from the Universal Thought and reading in “THE PHILOSOPHY & OPINIONS OF MARCU GARVEY,” a speech delivered at Liberty Hall, New York City on November 25, 1922 did I read the following jaw dropping passages on pg. 99:

"It took the combined manpower of the Allies to put down the mad determination of the Kaiser to impose German will upon the world and humanity. Among those who suppressed his mad ambition were two million Negroes who have not yet forgotten how to drive men across the firing line. Surely those of us who faced German shot and shell at the Marne, at Verdun, have not forgotten the order of our Commander-In -Chief. The cry that caused us to leave America in such a mad hast, when white fellow citizens of America refused to fight and said, “We do not believe in war and therefore, even though we are American citizens, and even though the nation is in danger, we will not go to war,” when many of them cried out and said, “We are German-Americans and we can not fight,” when so many white men refused to answer to the call and dodged behind all kinds of excuses, 400,000 black men were ready without a question. It was because we were told it was a way of democracy; it was a war for the liberation of the weaker peoples of the world. We heard the cry of Woodrow Wilson, not because we liked him so, but because the things he said were of such a nature that they appealed to us as men. Wheresoever the cause of humanity stands in need of assistance, there you will find the Negro ever ready to serve.”

(Me wonder if David Shuster has cowardly ancestry refusing to fight in that war. His problem may be hereditary or generational and its shining like the torch on the Statue of Liberty his ancestor saw when they arrived here in America. Bet'cha mine were here first!)

P.S. Re: Education and the stimulus package. If we educate our citizenry, will the national debt be so high that educated people creating new jobs and new industries will not diminish it quicker if they were not educated and healthy?

History repeats itself?
*Soldier doubts eligibility, defies president's orders

Excerpt:
A U.S. soldier on active duty in Iraq has called President Obama an "impostor" in a statement in which he affirmed plans to join as plaintiff in a challenge to Obama's eligibility to be commander in chief.
The statement was publicized by California attorney Orly Taitz who, along with her Defend Our Freedom Foundation, is working on a series of legal cases seeking to uncover Obama's birth records and other documents that would reveal whether he meets the requirements of the U.S. Constitution.

Obama strikes again! (Update)

Yes, this is Sgt. Brown speaking. Do I understand you want to file a complaint against a John Boehner and some of his friends for coming over to your house and beating you up just because you gave a speech on television? You say you think your nose is broken and you can’t see out of both your eyes? And some missing teeth. You told the desk clerk your name is Jindal, is that correct? OK, Mr. Jindal, we’ll be right over. Yes, I’ll bring my gun but wouldn't a doctor be better? Yes, Sir, we’ll protect you. As you say, Sir, “Scout’s honor.”
As always,
BB
(Note) Jindal acknowledged that to some degree, Republicans deserved the drubbing they took in the last two national elections.
"Our party got away from its principles," he said. "You elected Republicans to champion limited government, fiscal discipline, and personal responsibility. Instead, Republicans went along with earmarks and big government spending in Washington." But that is changing, he said.
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20090225/D96IAHG81.html
(Update)
“There's a larger point here, though. The central anecdote of the GOP's prime-time response to President Obama's speech, intended to illustrate the threat of excessive government regulation, turns out to have been made up”

And
“This doesn't seem to bear on the key question. As we said, the key elements of Jindal's story were that he was in Lee's office during the crisis itself, and that his support for the sheriff helped ensure the rescue went ahead. Neither of those things was true, it now seems.”

Obama Americans tuned into speech tonight

In my opinion, there has surfaced enough evidence to say there are Obama Americans and otherwise. I will not expose myself to a specific description of what I consider the “Otherwise” Americans but instead pursue my first desire to write this post.

I honest to God can not say enough nice things about the canvassers and other teams supporting Pres. Obama when he was campaigning. Those people are the true America. They are not overtly seeking fame nor glory, special treatment of any kind and above all, make-shift adulations. They have disappeared again into the wood-works of America. Just your everyday Joe, Jane, Jamal and Shamika citizen. No desire to cluster, mingle or continue to be part of an extension of a “Mission Accomplished”. They have disappeared from whence they came: Spending most of their time with their children’s PTA, helping their spouses running their business, turning their attention once again to their charity work and doing other things they were doing before heeding the clarion call to help Sen. Obama become President of the United States.

I am suspicious why the media does not want to call the President’s speech tonight his “State of the Union Address”. I suspect media does not want the adulations associated with such a prestigious speech this moment in history. Yes, I contend media wants to minimize the importance of the occasion and, if at all possible, ignore it as they did the twelve state wining spree of Sen. Obama during the primaries. There are no gray areas the way I choose to interpret and understand the situation. The man said, “…..tonight I fear no man for I have been to the mountaintop and I have seen the promised land”.

During the President’s speech tonight, I am still going to cry. Cry my heart out! Praise the Lord!
As always,

State of the Union Address: Is there a formula?

I do not understand why reporters, political pundits and operatives do not know what to call tonight’s speech by the President. What constitutes a “State of the Union Address?” Is it the number of verbs and adjectives embodied in the speech? Is it the confinement to a certain subject matter? Is it the season of the year or time of day or night? Who has these answers? I like *Chris Bower’s handling of the issue.

I have heard the speech being called, “First address to Congress,” “The President’s speech” and a few other things but always followed with, “…but it is not a State of the Union Address”. Logically, a State of the Union Address would occur anytime the President talks to the entire body of congress, after all he is talking to all the major representatives of all the states in the union. What makes “The State of the Union Address” so different?

I posit the notion the press is using the phrase, “State of the Union Address” to create and move a news cycle. I can hear them now: “Wait until the President presents his State of the Union Address” and “When President Obama gives his State of the Union Address, he is going to say this and that etc.,” or “Right now, we are waiting for the President to tell us when he will be giving his State of the Union Address” and so cynically add, “By this time, most other Presidents have already given their State of the Union Address to congres," and they begin to name all the Presidents and what they had to say along with other bull shit! It’s so silly but then we are talking about driving news cycles and making mortgage payments. Oh, well, here a pundit, there a pundit....

But I have to ask: why are State of the Union speeches a big deal? Presidents deliver speeches all the time, but these speeches are rarely covered lived on by all major television, Internet and radio news outlets. Within the professional political world of D.C., the SOTU not only is worthy of an acronym, but its annual parties are second only to changes of partisan power in Congress and / or the White House in terms of celebratory atmosphere. What is it about the SOTU that generates such intense coverage from major political and media institutions?

Rupert Murdock tacitly approves assassination of President Obama?

Rupert Murdock has probably never seen an assassination he does not like. It is demonstrably hard for rational people to think otherwise. As DKOS Diarist Wattree notes, one would have to be off the charts to think Mr. Murdock does not condone the “cartoon” depicting the assassination of our President. The well written diary says it all. The attempt of the cartoonist and the non-anger of the owner of the paper, Rupert Murdock, speaks in consistent lock-step volumes.

Speaking in volumes, Mr. Murdock’s non-intervention also says if you do assassinate the President, you have our backing. We will not demonize you and as a matter of fact, were you to be caught, my newspaper empire will also provide you the best neo-con lawyers in America to get you off. And if you qualify to be an Israeli citizen, one of the prettiest villas on the Gaza strip will be yours. We will closely monitor what goes on television just like we are having successes in keeping Rev. Sharpton and his minion’s little charade of milling outside of the NY Post off the air. Go ahead. Assassinate the President. We’ve got your back! We’ll even have Hannity call you, “A great American!” You’ll like that now, won’t you? Sure you would.

I am mindful how quickly GOLF DIGEST solved their problem when an employee put the picture of a noose on the cover of its magazine. Management fired him! Immediately! Additionally, Murdock has probably put out the word that neither Madoff nor Allen Standford are to go to jail. Just take Standford’s passport. Do no more than that. I'll handle the judges when his case comes up. You recall how the Madoff case was handled, don't you? Trust me. To Mr. Murdock I would say in my past post when not knowing who really pull some of the strings in America, I would say I know what you are but I do not know who you are. Now both my concerns have been addressed.

The Assassination Cartoon
by Wattree
Sat Feb 21, 2009 at 11:21:41 PM PST
Excerpt:
That cartoon literally sent a message out to every deadbeat, bigoted loser in the country that they can finally make something of themselves. They can finally find purpose in their previously miserable and lackluster lives by assassinating the President of the United States. Thus, what the New York Post is calling a meaningless joke is actually a clarion call to every bigoted fool in the United States. It says that there are people in this country who will consider you a hero, if you bring violence against the president–and they know it. Can you imagine the hue and cry coming from Republicans if the New York Times had run a cartoon depicting the assassination of Ronald Reagan?
And
Look at the facts. Their proven method of operation is to demonize, dehumanize, then eliminate. When the neo-cons decided to exploit Iraqi resources instead of going after Osama, as was the intent of the American people, they first began to demonize, then dehumanize Saddam Hussein–a former ally--in order to prepare the American people to accept the idea that it was necessary to take him out.
