"The real question should be, "Would it matter?" As evidence mounts that the current administration violated U.S. and international laws in lying to the American public to prosecute a discretionary war on the people of Iraq (resulting in the deaths of nearly 5,000 U.S. troops and countless Iraqi civilians), torturing "enemy combatants" (some to death), and illegally wiretapping citizens, few are willing to prosecute the crimes."
The “few” is our Democratic Congress. In my opinion, all the woes of this diary can be lain at the feet of our Democratic Congress. With ding-dong clarity the Democratic Party knew exactly what it was doing and why. I refuse to accept collective guilt due to the fact I did what I was supposed to do by voting for them to be in a place higher than my own. I did what a citizen on the Constitutional ladder has been given the right to do; past the baton upward. Many of us passed the baton upwards with hopes and dreams and in some cases, with blood, sweat and tears in equal portions only to have it flung back into our faces. The message was clearly “f….. you!”
The Democrats told me that so many times and I, after feeling like a battered citizen, changed my party affiliation. I felt I could no longer associate with an organization that treated me so badly. At this time I could care less that Rep. Jefferson lost his seat. I care less if Al Franken wins a seat and the saga of Gov. Blagojevich I only find amusing. In other words, I don’t give a shit! America died the day Nancy Pelosi took impeachment off the table as the Constitution sat down and shamelessly wept in folded arms.
As always,
BB
P.S. A good diary. Kudos to Whistlingfish
