Washington Politics: Heads I win, tails you lose

And here’s another one: The man tells you he has a bird in his covered hands and wants you to bet money if the bird is alive or dead. If you bet your money the little bird is alive, he crushes it in his hands as he reveals it to you. If you bet the bird is dead, he reveals to you a live, fluttering, chirping bird.

... and that all time favorite: "Now you see it, now you don't."

And so it goes with tax raises, deficit spending and revenues. Oy vey! This was a wacky TV viewing Sunday! I’m drained.

OWS: Pepper spray now, bullets later

The sequence: Billy clubs to Billy clubs and dogs to Billy clubs, dogs, and fire hoses to pepper spray to bullet sprays.

I am mindful of arguments at the Nuremberg trials, “I am not guilty, your Honor. I was only following orders”.

In my opinion, President Obama has to take the lead and say something meaningful. The situation is destined to become more ugly. Pepper spray is the final test run. I note there was no pepper spray at Kent State.

UC Davis Police Pepper-Spray Seated Students In Occupy Dispute

The videos show the students seated on the ground as a UC Davis police officer brandishes a red canister of pepper spray, showing it off for the crowd before dousing the seated students in a heavy, thick mist.

A news account captured the officer on camera spraying the students. The account names the officer as UC Davis Police Lt. John Pike. He did not return a voice mail message nor an email left Friday night.
