America and the Phoenix Bird

My emotions are all aflutter as colors of the rainbow abound. Were I a sophisticated poet I would somehow find a way to write in poetry that as soon after we go over the now infamous Fiscal Cliff of 2012, the hull of the ship will be wiped clean, the decks will be cleared and Americans would then re-arrange the deck chairs, introduce new ones, discarding old dilapidated ones and begin building new brightly lighted concession booths filled with friendly smiling faces along with up-dated shuffle boards. There will be new  swimming pools with human, attractive and compassionate life guards of all backgrounds and colors.

The workers will include old and new heroes along with un-avoidable old and new obstructionist. After the Bush laws expire at the end of the year, I see the Obama Administration rising out of the ashes, strong with positive determinations to re-constitute itself like the legendary Phoenix Bird of old and history books will triumph, “…..America was discovered by the Obama Administration in the year of our Lord, 2013”.

Ah, were I a poet. I am restraining my optimism with great efforts. The truth is, I can hardly contain myself until the end of the year! (Sigh)

-(Ka-POW!!!) Wake up, Nigger!

- (AWWWW!!) Why you slap me up-side my head like dat fer?

-’Cause you be dreaming agin, dats why.

-Oh…

What Is a Phoenix?
A phoenix is a legendary bird based in Egyptian mythology that burns itself at the end of its life, followed by a new bird rising from the ashes. It is also extremely long-lived and able to heal itself spontaneously, and the bird is a symbol of immortality, resurrection, and regeneration. In ancient times, it was incorporated into the mythologies of many cultures, and in the medieval period, it became a symbol of Christ.

According to legends, the lifespan of a phoenix is either 500 or 1461 years. It differs in appearance in different cultures, but the Egyptian version is gold and red, symbolic of fire. At the end of its life, the phoenix constructs a nest of cinnamon branches, sits in it, and spontaneously bursts into flame. After the entire nest is reduced to ashes, a new bird is born fully-formed. The new phoenix inters the ashes in an egg made of myrrh and brings the remains to the ancient city of Heliopolis.

Pelosi at odds with the President?

A few months back, I distantly remember reading that Nancy Pelosi does not agree with Pres. Obamas’  firm commitment to raise taxes for households earning more than $250,000. She wants the threshold to be earnings of $1 million and above along with John Boehner. So much for party loyalty and respect for the President. I never thought she nor Harry Reid cared very much for the President. I feel they are more beholden to their personal financial interests.
