Pres. Elect Obama: Enigma or Masterpiece
In my opinion, both words signify a “glass is half-full or half-empty” situation.
There are few of us who have so many nemeses as does Pres. Elect Obama to deal with. Few of us have the dilemma of having to make a decision as to what we do with them. Few of us have to run the gauntlets of Pres. Elect Obama.
If discussing an enigma or masterpiece, the Obama camp has shown us so many innovative ways to skin a cat. I am quite honestly breathless in trying to keep up with them. Although the skinning is surgically cataclysmic with no appearances of blood and gore, it still happens and I know it happens; for example, bringing on Samantha "Tell it like it is" Power in the State Department was a stroke of genius! Genius does not get any better.
On the other hand, lining up your enemies and marching them out in front of you amuses me to no end. Sort of akin to “put your money where your mouth is” giving "I've got your back" a new interpretation. To undertake such a feat, you really have to be on top of your game, in total control with impeccable personal discipline to go along with it. No half-stepping!
Though there maybe many who consider Pres. Elect Obama an enigma with the definition being “one that is puzzling, ambiguous or inexplicable”, I tether on the brink of that definition preferring instead calling Pres. Elect Obama a masterpiece following the lead of my college art teacher Dr. Porter who hailed the Cathedral of Chartres and the Mona Lisa as examples of a masterpiece.
With a masterpiece, there is truly the dichotomy of interpretations as to its worth and aesthetic value. There is the preponderance of evidence and arguments on both sides. Each equally strong and persuasive leaving you to make your own decision. There are individuals and structures under no circumstances would I consider a masterpiece or even an enigma, for that fact. There are structures and personalities that could never pass the “glass is half-full or half-empty” test. As my philosophy teacher use to say, “You are either a tree or a non-tree”. Is that also an arguable personal interpretation?
