What Republicans Want (I think)

We are presently experiencing a government shutdown. In my opinion it is not as complex as we are being led to believe. The Republicans want America to stop spending so much  money.

The Republicans have decided to to re-instate funds to agencies they feel are deserving of American governmental money and by-passing those agencies they consider bloated and excessive.

They want some of the re-instated money to go to The District of Columbia, Holocaust Museum, NIH, The WIC Program and the National Park Service.

Further into my opinion, those agencies they considered bloated and do not want to spend  money on are ones dealing with  foreign aid:

and agencies dealing with the Industrial Military Complex Pres. Eisenhower warned us about so many years ago.

Looking at the shutdown situation from my perspective I find fascinating.

God bless Bill Gates, WPFW, C-SPAN and the spirits of the unborn for the help,

There is really nothing complicated about the facts. The Republican-controlled House of Representatives voted all the money required to keep all government activities going -- except for ObamaCare.

Obamacare and American literacy (UPDATE)

Throughout the years, there have been many educational polls ranking America far below average. The polls always report that the American educational system is poor in relationship to other civilized countries. America is never in the top ten for overall literacy.

Why would the Obama administration expect American citizens to be sophisticated enough to read and maneuver through a maze of internet pages to sign up for health care?  What are people with low reading skills, low comprehension skills, dyslexia  and the like expected to do? There were no drills or pre-exercises teaching us what to expect or what to do.

If America is as low on the educational level as international polls say we are, Sec. Of Education Arne Duncan has done a piss-poor  job getting us ready for Obamacare. This was his  job to teach and he has failed miserably. Shame!

As always,
BB

OECD Skills Test: U.S. Adults Lag In Practical Workplace Skills
By Joy Resmovits
Excerpt:
"These findings should concern us all. They show our education system hasn't done enough to help Americans compete -- or position our country to lead -- in a global economy that demands increasingly higher skills," U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan said in a statement. "While the PIAAC study places our highest-skilled adults on par with those in other leading nations, the findings shine a spotlight on a segment of our population that has been overlooked and underserved:  the large number of adults with very low basic skills, most of whom are working."
