Trying to give Pres. Obama the benefits of doubt, I ever so often amuse myself reflecting on things he has done as follows:

__Ordering the murders of three young, Black pirates

__Not pushing for Public Options or Single Payer
__Not firing White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers
__Demonstrates satisfaction with job performance of Tim Geithner
__Demonstrates satisfaction with job performance of Ben Bernanke
__Continuing to endure Gen. Stanley McChrystal
__Escalating war in Afghanistan
__Having no problems with Chairman Lieberman
__Saying he does not deserve the Nobel Peace Prize

Fantasy: Gingrich ask for Geithner’s head

The true and patriotic nature of Newt Gingrich makes him feel duty-bound rolling up his sleeves helping to turn this country around. From his background in History, he sees the massive iceberg our ship is heading towards with all hands on deck and he fells he has to make the Clarion call.

He feels he has to do something! He feels his embarrassment to his party by messing into the internal affairs of the Democratic Party would be justified in the final reel and just might help his Republican Party in 2010 and 2012 . Like a moth to the flame, so he feels his patriotic duties. It sickens him to say or do nothing.

As he reaches for the telephone, he mumbles something about showing Obama some big time Washington bi-partisanship!

Excerpt:
The emails today detail the efforts of the Fed to suppress the disclosure of payments made to banks such as Goldman, Sachs Group for reimbursement of their credit-default swap exposure. When the Treasury Department stepped in, AIG had at least $440 billion in credit-default swaps outstanding. The Fed, led by Tim Geithner, paid Goldman, Sachs Group and other banks 100 cents on the dollar for these instruments rather than negotiating a lower rate closer to the actual value, (estimated by some to have been as little as 20 cents). In testimony to the Congressional Oversight Panel, Tim Geithner insisted it was necessary to make these payments in full, arguing that even a small downward negotiation would prove catastrophic to the financial sector. Elizabeth Warren, head of the oversight panel, has repeatedly challenged this assertion.

FOIA Request Filed for OPR Report on Bush's Lawyers
by David Swanson
Excerpt:
An organization of attorneys, journalists, and advocates today filed a request under the Freedom of Information Act requesting the long-suppressed report from the Department of Justice's Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) regarding the conduct of President Bush's top lawyers in the Office of Legal Counsel who authored memos purporting to authorize torture and aggressive war.

And
The request, reproduced below along with a transmittal letter, asks for the OPR report that has long been promised by Attorney General Eric Holder, as well as an earlier OPR report completed during the last months of the Bush administration. The request also seeks the 10 page rebuttal of the 2008 report by then- Attorney General Michael Mukasey.

"Negro" comes before November (Update)

According to a guest on the Rachel Maddow Show this evening, if I check “Negro” on the 2010 Census, I would therefore be a Negro voting at the ballot box in November.

I was not able to get the young African/American’s name due to the brief time he was on the show. I have noticed shows do not display a guest’s name and position on the tv screen as often and as long as in the past.

The 2010 Census will register “X” amount of Blacks, African/Americans and Negroes residing in the United States and come November, 2010, the group identification will be used to identify the voting preferences of different racial groups. Strange will be the interpretations of the Census when long dead “Negroes” are counted in the April Census and again in the November elections or maybe at one time and not the other. Stranger still is the reality how quickly time flies backwards. Only in America!
Fighting for the dignity of my Ancestors,
God bless Bill Gates, WPFW, C-SPAN and the spirits of the unborn for the help,

P.S. I suppose the Census makers felt it took too much ink and space to add the word “Colored”.
(Update) After watching a re-run of the Rachel Maddow Show, the guest name is David Wilson. His web site is Thegrio.com

In my opinion, a truly remarkable diary!

Dorgan: When you screw over your friends they go home
by wilbur
Excerpt: Opening paragraph
The announcement of Byron Dorgan’s retirement brought back one of the most searing memories from my childhood – and a lesson that I learn over and over again – when you screw over your friends because you think they have nowhere to go, they go home.  I grew up in a suburb of New York.  There was this rivalry between our neighborhood and one a block down.  We always seemed to be at war with each other.  The first snow often brought a massive snowball fight, and for the last couple of years our neighborhood had suffered humiliating retreats.  I was younger and a soldier in these snowball fights.  But this year I was growing taller and stronger and more athletic and more sure of myself and I was rising through the ranks.  By my side was my best friend Michael.  Even has a pre-teen he was a solid guy, very quiet, but also determined and exceptionally loyal.  He was always there with me and took my side in every dispute.  We hung out together quite a bit.  It was good having him around, knowing Michael would always have my back.
