Republicans and their “What if” controls

Mandated health insurance destined to go into effect in 2014 has gotten a lot of Republican governors and their supporters hot under the collar. On March 27-28th, they presented their case to members of the U.S. Supreme Court based on a cornucopia of “What ifs”.

In my opinion, the two words What if can be a very significant rhetorical device for propaganda purposes both positive and negative. And so it was high drama seeing representatives for 23 Republican governors and their minions present their What ifs to members of the U.S. Supreme court only to receive contrary and highly skillful associations, hypotheticals and assumptions attached to them. Members of the Supreme Court blew the What iffers out of the water on several occasions.

In other words, members of the U.S. Supreme Court know how to handle presenters like Chicken Little crying “…the sky is falling” with their swishy-swashy asses full of What ifs.

And finally I note during the entire two day presentation the name of President Obama was never mentioned. What a pleasure to have heard political talk minus the name of the President every other word. I would wager since 1492, the name “Obama” has been mentioned more times than the name “Jesus Christ”.
