Jews to Blacks: Leave Jewish history alone!

I can not say it does not seem like it happened yesterday because it does.

There was talk Martin Luther King’s speech at the Riverside Baptist Church in New York City titled, *“Beyond Vietnam: A time to break silence” marked him for certain death. He was told not to go into venues in-appropriate to his station in life as a Black minister. In other words, do not go bothering Jewish money.

And there was Leonard Jeffries, the head of the Black Studies Department at the City College of New York who wrote a book about Jews in Hollywood resulting in the lost of his chairmanship at the college. That episode stood out for me because the Jewish community was recorded telling Dr. Jeffries only Jews were permitted to write Jewish history.

And so it appears Dr. Thomas Sowell has ruffled feathers in the Jewish community by invoking Hitlers’ name in his latest writings, hence:
“Thomas Sowell is a sad example of the collapse of conservative scholarship and moral and  intellectual integrity.”

I note the intended taboo of talking about Jews on the Black college campus:
Schooled in Hate: Anti-Semitism on Campus
Excerpt:
The potential exists for misconceptions, miscommunication, or campus polarization leading to flashpoints of anti-Semitism.

And
Lecture halls are transformed from places for pursuing higher knowledge to breeding grounds for ethnic hatred. In the process, these entrepreneurs of bigotry generate a significant income from lucrative lecture fees.

In America, there is Freedom of Speech and there is Anti-Semitism.

Sen. Reids’ lack of foresight….

and reaping what you sow.

It is my understanding at the beginning of Congress each year, an agreement between both parties must be made as to how many votes have to be cast in order to pass a bill.

It is my understanding that this year, the agreed amount was sixty votes with the agreement made between Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and either Republican Mitch McConnell or John Boehner.

If this is true, in my opinion Democrats can still save their hind-parts next year by establishing a majority rule vote instead of sixty votes and re-visit some of their pet bills thereby passing them without a hitch. Simple enough? We’ll see.

If Harry Reid maintains his position as Senate Majority Leader for the opening of Congress next year, would he press for majority rule votes? I have strong feelings about him succeeding on that front. This is only something else to look forward to and worry about. I tell ya’ Lord, if it’s not my sheep, it’s my cow!

Jobs Bill Fails In Senate: Democrats Say Thursday's Doomed Vote Was The Last Chance
By Arthur Delaney
Excerpt:
"We're going to move to the small business jobs bill," said Reid. "We can't pass it until we get some Republicans... It's up to them."

Not a single Republican is willing to lend support and Nebraska Democrat Ben Nelson is still holding out, leaving Democrats two votes short of the 60 needed to overcome a filibuster.

And
"Maybe they will come back next week," she ( Stebenow) said. "Bluff? That suggests a game, and I resent that. There are over a million people right now who have lost their unemployment benefits."

Afghanistan and The Emperors’ New Clothes

I know a fully clothed individual when I see one and Afghanistan is not fully clothed.

Just as Iraq was never fully clothed in spite of all efforts of the Bush administration and the media to make me see clothing, Iraq now sits in the middle of the village square in Baghdad, morphed from the butt naked Emperor into the several tons of bronze statue of Rodins’ “The Thinker”.

The Emperor got tired of walking in the parade so he sat down; Still naked as a Jay bird! Still pensive. Still attracting awesome questions of deep puzzlement and alas, foretelling the future of soon to be equally decimated Afghanistan.

To date, I have had a zillion people telling me what they think Afghanistan is wearing -why we are fighting this war- just as they tried to tell me what they thought Iraq was wearing i.e., why we were fighting the war in Iraq.

And to make a long story short, yesterday, in the Rose Garden, while heralding the resignation of Gen. McChrystal, Pres. Obama, in my opinion, won the coveted Blue Ribbon with eloquent rhetorical efforts for me to see, Lord, I’m trying, the clothing he is seeing on Afghanistan:
So make no mistake:  We have a clear goal.  We are going to break the Taliban’s momentum.  We are going to build Afghan capacity.  We are going to relentlessly apply pressure on al Qaeda and its leadership, strengthening the ability of both Afghanistan and Pakistan to do the same.
That’s the strategy that we agreed to last fall; that is the policy that we are carrying out, in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Gen. McChrystals’ destiny and the weight of a single straw

There have been many writings since the McChrystal story appeared in Rolling Stone Magazine.

Many of the writings detail the good generals’ posture in multiple areas and at multiple times of his public career.

These accounts are once again dispelling the myth that the public has a short memory.

Diarist FedUpDan has recorded one of my favorite accounts.

The REAL McChrystal story
by FedUpDan
Excerpt:
The real story here is so very much bigger than whether or not Asshat McChrystal is going to be fired for criticizing the President. I have found at least eight -- EIGHT! -- examples of more important stories, below the fold.

3. McChrystal was instrumental in the Pat Tillman cover-up. Shortly after Tillman's death, he wrote a memo recommending against divulging the findings of internal investigations that showed Tillman's death was due to friendly fire. Why? Because, as Rolling Stone printed, those findings would cause "public embarrassment" for Bush. As RS also notes, "Nine days after Tillman's death, McChrystal was promoted to Major General."

And
7. The war in Afghanistan is a pointless money pit with no end in sight and no discernible standard of victory, and both the soldiers on the ground and even McChrystal himself do not deny the likelihood of this reality.

McChrystal resigns, world re-sets

Pres. Obama has said many times over he wants to deal in the present. Gen. McChrystals' treasonous behavior is in the present. The President should accept his resignation in this present time frame.

General McChrystal Offers To Resign, According To Report
Excerpt:
Appearing on CNN on Tuesday afternoon, Klein said, "I think he's probably going to lose his job. A little bit of news: I was just talking to a very reliable source who tells me that McChrystal has submitted his resignation and it's going to be up to the president...to accept it or not tomorrow."

Will Alvin Greens’ revolution be televised?

I know how serious they say it is when you start hearing voices. They say “You crazy!” or something like that but most people are polite and say something like, “He must be off his medications.”

That’s what they say about people hearing voices but supposing you are hearing only one voice? One voice saying stuff like:
They didn’t treat me right! When I went into the Air Force, I was supposed to be commissioned. Even then they laughed at me telling me I didn’t have enough experience. When I showed them my papers from school, they said they would try me in intelligence but I better do good or they had somewhere else they would put me. “Somewhere more suited”, they said, “to my station in life”, they said. They was always laughing.

Then one day they said my exams say I would serve my country best by being in supplies so that’s where they put me. I start writing letters. I wrote to my commanding offers and one time I even wrote to the President. I told all of’em that they were not treating me right. So one day he told me to pack my things that I was getting a discharge and not to worry because they were going to give me a good going away present of some money. They said they were going to give me some money.

It took them a long time to give me that money. I had to call them mostly everyday. I said when I get that money, I was going to tell everybody what they did to me. It was not right. So that’s when I decided to run for Senator ’cause I knew people would listen to me then. People would find out they didn’t treat me right. They gotta hear me then!

They heard that guy call the President a liar’n nothing happened to him. He was already a Senator. He was in the reserves too, being disrespectful to our Commander in Chief and all, and nothing happened to him, so I figure they got to hear me too ’cause I won’t be lying. They gotta hear!

Questions Persist About Alvin Greene's Mysterious Military Discharges
Posted by Michael Scherer

Excerpt:
Earlier in the same interview, I had asked Greene about his dismissal from the Air Force. His answer was, somewhat typically, cryptic. “I left the Air Force in September '05,” he said. “I ran through some problems, dealing with rank. It's a long story. I guess that will be the next thing they will be focusing on.” I asked him repeatedly to clarify further, and he declined to do so.

And
But less than an hour later, he was encouraging me to pursue the story of his Air Force dismissal. He later declined to help by granting permission to one of his former officers to discuss his service. An Air Force public affairs officer said Greene was discharged through an administrative action, not a court martial, which is consistent with Greene's characterization of an “involuntary” discharge. Otherwise, Air Force officials said they would not discuss the details.
