White House washing dirty laundry on Feb. 25? (Update)

In reference to the debacle over the HealthCare Reform Bill, if the Republicans accept the President’s invitation to wash each one’s dirty laundry in public on Feb. 25th, in my opinion the results will be incalculable on multiple levels.

On one level, the invitation is the Obama clan calling out to the Boehner clan to meet for a rumble after school.

On the other hand, it is Dick Cheney going into court on charges of treason with a not guilty plea vehemently demanding a jury trial to prove his innocence.

Or it could be looked upon as efforts from both sides answering the question, “Have you stopped beating your wife!”

If the debacle is to be televised and if this is an idea of David Plouffe, as has been suggested, I read it very well. My read on it is Mr. Plouffe saying to the President:
“I can help but we have to start off with a clean slate. I can not work with you with all these fragmented elements scattered about. Let’s clear the air and see where the cards are on the table”.

Whatever the case, I am anticipating good theater hoping the President has a plan “B” i.e., a one man show in the event the Republicans begin singing their latest version of the Nancy Wilson song, “Mrs. Otis regrets she is unable to lunch today”.

True to the behavior of Republicans, this last minute coping out will prompt smiles from the President just as he is leaving the White House getting into his car. “Got’cha!” he murmurs.
As always,
BB

GOP ALTERNATIVES — NYT’s Robert Pear and David Herszenhorn report: “When Republicans take President Obama up on his invitation to hash out their differences over health care this month, they will carry with them a fairly well-developed set of ideas intended to make health insurance more widely available and affordable, by emphasizing tax incentives and state innovations, with no new federal mandates and only a modest expansion of the federal safety net. It is not clear that Republicans and the White House are willing to negotiate seriously with each other, and Mr. Obama has rejected Republican demands that he start from scratch in developing health care legislation.

Conservative media preemptively attack Obama's bipartisan health care summit

Excerpt:
Numerous conservative media outlets have criticized President Obama's plan to hold a bipartisan health care summit "to go through systematically all the best ideas that are out there and move it forward," by attacking the summit as a "dog and pony" show or a "PR stunt" before the event has even occurred. Additionally, some have urged Republicans not to participate.
