Rep. Donna Edwards (D-MD) first to break out of gate?

I do not know if I would call it a “chicken and egg” situation but I did read on Tuesday Ms. Edwards addressing the Supreme Court ruling on Citizens United Vs. FEC and the next day reading the intentions of Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to address the same ruling.

Tuesday: Rep. Edwards “has just introduced a Constitutional amendment, together with Congressman John Conyers.” in efforts to counter recent U. S. Supreme Court ruling in Citizens United vs. FEC.

And
Wednesday: “House Democrats are forming a Citizens United task force to decide on the best set of legislative push back against the Supreme Court decision …” on Citizens Vs. FEC.

In other words, if Ms. Edwards was the first announcing going forth with meaningful legislation to right the ills of the Supreme Court law, she should be given her accolades. If that is indeed the case, it is not fair for Ms. Pelosi to usurp the announcement of Ms. Edwards thereby portraying her as an “add-on”.

In my opinion, what Ms. Edwards is doing will surely get the attention of the Black community at a crucial time going into November elections. If freshman Congresswoman Ms. Edwards can take the heat of being a heron in these troubled times, and if she has the political and intellectual savvy being the spokesperson for sponsoring and advancing a U.S. Constitutional Amendment, it would be a good thing and I anticipate heightened awareness in the Black community. We will take notice!

This courageous endeavor of Congresswoman Edwards should not be written out of history. I continue to have strong feelings regarding the late Howard “History of the U.S.” Zinn not including the name of Watergate Security Guard Frank Wills in his book who, by simply doing his job, unraveled the Nixon administration.

Fighting for the dignity of my Ancestors,
God bless Bill Gates, WPFW, C-SPAN and the spirits of the unborn for the help,

A coalition of public interest organizations and independent business advocates praised the Congresswoman’s action.  The groups, Voter Action, Public Citizen, the Center for Corporate Policy, and the American Independent Business Alliance, say the Court's ruling in Citizens United v. FEC poses a serious and direct threat to democracy.  Immediately following the Court's ruling on January 21, 2010, the groups launched a constitutional amendment campaign at www.freespeechforpeople.org to correct the judiciary's creation of corporate rights under the First Amendment over the past three decades.

House Democrats are forming a Citizens United task force to decide on the best set of legislative push back against the Supreme Court decision that upended 100 years of precedent and legalized unlimited corporate involvement in elections, Democratic members and aides told HuffPost.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) tapped as the head Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), her assistant and chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee - which has much to worry about when it comes to Citizens United.
