Left, right and center of nowhere
All the talk about a person being left, right, center of left and right of middle and on and on is confusing to me. Many times I wonder if people are only playing a verbal version of the children's game “Patty-Cakes” when they go into that dialog.
Here’s my take on it. This is what a person is posturing while arguing the different positions:
Left
-Only she said she loved me.
Far left of center
-She only said she loved me.
Left of center
-She said only she loved me.
Center
-She said she only loved me.
Right of center
-She said she loved only me.
Right of center
-She said she loved me only.
Right
-She said she loved me only. Period!
As always,
BB
P.S. I have modified a little exercise on adjectives I got in my English 101 #2 or #3 class. (Smile)
