Libya and her museums

I am mindful of the situation in Iraq when precious artifacts were stolen during the invasion. There was talk regarding a lack of planning to protect the treasures. I wonder if that same lack of planning has subjected Libya to the same fate. The treasures in Libya, as in Iraq, are thousands of years old and can not be replaced.
