Searching for “Nooks and Crannies”
I would say the three days Rush Limbaugh was focused on the nooks and crannies of the testimony made by Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke was an education for me regarding talk show hosts.
While Ms. Fluke was speaking at an un-official Democratic hearing regarding reproductive rights, what she was saying was raising the ire of Republican Rush Limbaugh so he went searching for (and found) lots of delicious nooks and crannies in her speech. And not only that, he also found nooks in the crannies and crannies in the nooks and presented all of his many discoveries and conclusions to his now shamelessly salivating listening audience. Nooks and crannies will never be the same and, alas, neither will Ms. Sandra Fluke.
For the three day I listened to Rush, I concluded he pales his contemporaries. Further, He makes them appear to be no more than stone throwing street urchins; the outer fringes of our society; mere mis-fits; mumbling kooks and verbal thugs trying to hit the big time.
It makes you wonder about their parents and other role models when they were growing up. Are they doing them proud?
I know lawyers can get into the nooks and crannies of statements made by witnesses and a physician can get into the nooks and crannies of your ailment but Rush is different. I am in awe of his rare talent and have now grown weary of his less talented peers.
They all use the same template, sometimes with slight variations: They repeat the targeted statement from the President, cabinet member or whomever and promptly set forth to create an analogy (usually a poor one) with nooks and crannies they can argue. Sometimes they ask a question to get off subject. And many times they introduce new words into the situation and, if they think they are really riding in high cotton, they lie. This happens a whole bunch of times! Boor-ring!!
