Iran: It is said, “All behavior is purposeful.”
The twenty year old Iranian girl said she wanted “Freedom” when the moderator on WAMU-FM asked her what she wanted from the current marches and unrest in her country.
I am a bit impatient right now and will cut right to the chase of my post due to the fact on one of my favorite sites several commentators thoroughly exposed a US propagandist writing about the Iranian situation whom many trusted and felt was a very informed diarist. Busted!
In my opinion, the twenty year old Iranian young lady reflected what many of the marching Iranians feel and that is they feel something is wrong in their country. They do not know exactly what it is, but they know something is wrong. A gut feeling, so to speak.
We are hearing their movement is leaderless. That means there is no central focal point being advocated and therein lie the dangers of such a movement. A leaderless movement is extremely vulnerable for a fast talking whatever to step right into the situation drawing identification like a magnet representing a culminator of all their desires.
I understand the country consists of both Kurds and Arab citizens with sub-sets. I understand a large percentage of the populace is young. A lot of young people have open minds and that is good. Finally, what is bad in this Iranian situation is the goodness of the open minds of its youth. I wish them well.
As always,
BB
P.S. In all countries I would suspect there are voluminous metaphors for a group of leaderless people i.e., “If you don’t stand for something you will fall for anything.” Rev. Jesse Jackson
